Getting Here

Unst is an adventure, and so is getting here. Planes touching down at the southern points of Shetland, over night boats, car journeys filled with the unique Shetland landscape and pit-stops in appropriate parking places to snap a picture – the journey north is a trip in itself.

When travelling to and from Unst, we would highly recommend booking ferries in advance. Getting from Lerwick to Unst will take 90 – 120 minutes in a car and involves two ferry journeys.

Travelling from Lerwick to Unst

Ferry 1: Depart at Toft (the only ferry payment to be made), Arrive at Ulsta

Ferry 2: Depart at Gutcher. Arrive at Belmont, Unst.

Travelling from Unst to Lerwick/Sumburgh:

Ferry 1: Depart Belmont. Arrive at Gutcher.

Ferry 2: Depart Ulsta. Arrive at Toft.

You do not pay on any route from Unst to Lerwick.
